Chengzu means to inherit ancestral grace, wealth and family traditions. Chengzu Hall has two mansions. It is also known as Shangli Mentang and Jienanli Mentang. This hall was built in the Qing Dynasty and once produced a civil official. Some people in Gaoqian village have called this hall “Shengzu Hall绳祖堂”. It is building which has three mansions with nine halls (三台九门堂). There are three remaining courtyards, a foyer, a central hall, a front yard, a principal hall and a back yard on the central axis, and a two-story Xiangfang on the left and right of the front and back courtyards. The two-story principal hall is two rooms wide. The current residence is relatively dilapidated, with some of the eaves and pillars destroyed and temporarily supported by wooden pillars that were added more recently. The building occupies an area of 3,525.26 square meters.

The old house was destroyed by fire in the early years of the Republic of China, and the existing house was rebuilt in about 1920 by the 35th generation of the branch -Shui Men School (水门派)of Wu family.
