The establishment of Gaoqian Village by the Wu family

    Wu Quanzhi, the founder of the Wu family in Xianju, moved to Xiali.

  • 1174-1189 During the Chunxi period of the Southern Song Dynasty

    the 11th ancestor, Wu Chun, moved to Gaoqian and became the founder of the Wu family's Western branch.

    The place where Wu family of Gaoqian lived became a village.

  • 1640-1912 Qing Dynasty

    Gaoqian belonged to Gaoqianzhuang in Gaoqianli XVI Du, Kaiyuan Township, Xianju County; between the Qianlong and Xianfeng periods of the Qing Dynasty, the existing village pattern of Gaoqian was laid out.

  • 1948-1949 Before and after the founding of New China

    In 1948, Gaoqian and Houren merged to form Zhongke Township; after 1949, the two townships of Gaoqian and Houren were restored.

  • 1951-1959 1950s

    In 1951 a vigorous land reform movement was carried out in Gaoqian Shangwo Village; In February 1951, the People's Government of Gaoqian Township was established; in 1953, the first mutual aid group was established in Gaoqian Shangwu Village; in the winter of 1955, the mutual aid groups were restructured into a low-level agricultural production co-operative; in March 1956, the low-level cooperatives of the three villages were merged into one high-level cooperative. in 1958, a people's commune was established in Gaoqian, which was renamed the Baita People's Commune in 1961; in the autumn of 1958, the commune was transformed into the Gaoqian People's Commune; in November 1958, the Liangtan Reservoir Management Committee was established with Gaoqian Shangwu Village as the main part of the committee. The construction of the reservoir was completed in December 1961; in the winter of 1959, a canteen was set up for the whole village.

  • 1961-1966 1960s

    In 1961, the village implemented the 60 rules of the People's Commune; in 1962, the Party Branch of Gaoqian Shangwu Village was established; in the winter of 1963, the construction of the Youling Reservoir, with a storage capacity of 180,000 cubic metres, began and was completed in the spring of 1966; from 1964 to 1974, the Qianwang Reservoir was built in full collaboration with the villages concerned. In 1966, the Cultural Revolution swept the country and the whole village suffered greatly.

  • 1970-1972 1970s

    In the winter of 1970, Gaoqian Commune was incorporated into Baita Commune; in 1971, the basic construction of farmland water conservancy was started; in 1972, the construction of the flood dikes on the east and west banks of Gaoqian Creek was started and completed in 1987.

  • 1982-1985 1980s

    In 1982, the household contract responsibility system was introduced in the village; in 1984, the Baita People's Commune was renamed Baita Township; in 1985, Baita was approved as an incorporated village with Gaoqian as its natural village.

  • 1990-1996 1990s

    1990-1995, agricultural electric grid lines were erected in the fields; two electric irrigation stations were constructed and tap-water facilities were completed; in 1993, with the replacement of transformers and old power lines, the whole village was given access to electricity; in 1995, the village elderly association was established; in December 1995, cable television was launched. In 1995, investment was made to build concrete pavement on the main streets of the village; in 1996, program telephone system was installed, and at the end of the first half of 1998, every family had access to telephone lines.
